Directions to Oak Ridge from the McGhee Tyson/Knoxville Airport (TYS)
 
When leaving the airport, take the Knoxville Exit, which will lead you to Alcoa Highway/US 129 North.  Go approximately 3 miles to I-140 East Exit (Pellissippi Parkway).  Take Interstate I-140 exit (sign will also say local traffic), follow all signs to Oak Ridge.  As you travel the Pellissippi Parkway you will merge into Oak Ridge Highway/62 West (you will be in the left-hand lane).  You will then cross the Solway Bridge over the Clinch River, after crossing the bridge you will want to merge into the right-hand lane (there will be a cemetery on the right).  As you are passing the cemetery on the right, you will see green business district signs for Oak Ridge.  Follow these signs bearing right just before the traffic light to take you into Oak Ridge.  This road will become Illinois Avenue.  If you are staying at the Comfort Inn, Hampton Inn, or the Doubletree Hotel, stay on Illinois Avenue and you will easily see your hotel.

 

Directions to the Federal Building from the McGhee Tyson/Knoxville Airport (TYS)

To come directly to the Federal Building from the Knoxville Airport, follow the above directions.  Once you are on Illinois Avenue, follow it across the railroad tracks and through several traffic lights.  You will pass a Comfort Inn hotel on your right, further down, a Hardee's restaurant on the left, and the Doubletree Hotel on the right.  Once you pass the Doubletree Hotel, you will want to get into the right-hand lane in order to turn right onto Oak Ridge Turnpike at the next traffic light (a car dealership is on the right).  Follow the Turnpike to traffic light #3 (the traffic lights are numbered).  At traffic light #3, turn right onto Administration Road.  There will be a couple of buildings on the right and McDonald's restaurant on the left.  The Federal Building (a large long, white building) is located on the left.  Address of the Federal Building is:  200 Administrative Road, Oak Ridge, TN 37830.
