Performance discussions between employees and
supervisors are ongoing throughout the year as informal discussions occur
during the course of completing work assignments. The Oak Ridge
Office formally assesses employee performance at the end of each
fiscal year based on a four level performance management system. Under
this system, performance is rated as either “Significantly Exceeds
Expectations”, “Meets Expectations”, "Needs Improvement"
or “Unacceptable.” Approximately 30 days after reporting for duty or
after a significant change in assignments, employees will be provided with an
appraisal plan that describes performance expectations. As an employee,
you are entitled to receive candid feedback based on your performance in
relation to the criteria described in your plan. You should also expect
to receive a progress review at approximately the midpoint of the
appraisal cycle.
