Emergency Contacts: Employee Health Station - ORO: 576-0682 Employee Health Station - OSTI: 576-0683 Nurse's Pager: 222-0549 Federal Human Resources Branch: 576-0130Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Recertification classes are taught each year beginning in February through August. One original certification class is usually taught each year in May. The CPR class includes CPR for the adult, child, and infant, as well as the Heimlich maneuver used to relieve an obstruction from the airway of a victim who is choking. A list of CPR Certified Employees is posted on all medicine cabinets and first aid kits in Oak Ridge facilities. Office of Workers Compensation Claims All on the job injuries should be reported IMMEDIATELY to the Employee Health Station nurse on duty. Nurse Betty Blackman (576-0682) will provide immediate first aid care. She will assist the employee in filing the Workers Compensation Claim to pay for medical care, continuation of pay, and compensation if appropriate and the employee is eligible to receive these benefits. These claims are filed with the Federal Employees Claim Office of the U.S. Department of Labor in Jacksonville, Florida.
The goal of EAP is to increase employee satisfaction and wellness while enabling the employee to work productively. Initial assessment and referral to appropriate therapist are provided as needed. Employee Health Benefit Plans provide varying degrees of coverage for treatment when advisable. EAP is a special program offered to employees with emotional disorders, drug abuse, alcoholism, personal problems, excessive stress, and depression which are all treatable illnesses.
Nursing Services include blood pressure screening, emergency first aid and assessment, inoculations, treatments, and non-prescription medications are provided for a variety of illnesses by the professional nurse on duty.
Physical examinations are scheduled and changed as needed. Records reproduction and office manager duties are performed by Amanda Cornett (241-2699).
Literature and counseling are available as needed.
Medic Blood Drives routinely occur each year in January and August. Emergency Blood Drives occur when the blood supply at Medic is low.
