USA Jobs provides applicants with a quick and easy means of applying for Federal positions, and allows our office to speed up the hiring process while reaching a greater number of potential applicants.  If you are interested in any of the positions listed above, you should register at http://www.usajobs.com and follow the online instructions to obtain additional information on each vacancy and to submit a resume.  Be sure to read each vacancy announcement carefully.  We cannot consider you for a position if you do not submit a complete resume and submit all of the supplemental documentation specified for each vacancy announcement.  If applying online poses a hardship to you, we will be happy to assist you.  You must contact us at (865) 576-0130 before the announcement you are interested in closes.

Steps for Completing and Submitting an Online Resume

The following instructions outline our application process. You must complete this application process and submit any required documents by 11:45 p.m. Eastern Time (ET) on the closing date of this announcement. We are available to assist you during business hours (normally 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. ET, Monday - Friday). If applying online poses a hardship, please contact us by noon ET on the announcement's closing date.

Step 1 - Create a Resume with USAJOBS (www.usajobs.gov)

Although you must enter your Social Security Number (SSN) for USAJOBS, we will only see the last four digits for identification purposes.

Step 2 - Review the Job Announcement

We suggest you read through this entire announcement and preview the online questions before applying. To see the questions, go to the end of the Qualifications & Evaluation section of the job announcement. You may need to customize your USAJOBS resume to ensure that it supports your responses to these questions, as your resume must substantiate your claimed experience.

Step 3 - Apply Online

Click the "Apply Online" link located on this vacancy announcement and then elect your USAJOBS resume to submit it with your application. You will be redirected to the system used by the Department of Energy to complete the application process.

Step 4 - Answer the Online Questions and Submit Your Online Application

If this is your first time on the Department of Energy's vacancy application website, you will be prompted to register by answering questions related to your eligibility for Federal employment. The system will save these responses and then take you back to the announcement question screen so that you can answer the job-specific questions. Select "Take me to the assessment" and click on the "Continue" button to answer the job-specific questions. Once you complete all of the questions you will be taken to a page to submit your required supplemental documentation.

Step 5 - Submit Required Supplemental Documentation

You will now have the option to submit required supplemental documentation using one any of the three options described below. To protect your privacy, we encourage you to remove your SSN from any documents that you submit.

1. Upload - Choosing this function allows you to use your computer to upload documents that you already have in electronic format.

 2. USAJOBS - Choosing this option allows you to submit documents you have previously uploaded to your USAJOBS account.

3. Fax - Choosing this option will generate a fax coversheet that you must use if you want to fax us your documents. Faxed documents will be imaged by a third party and attached to your online resume so that we can receive and access them online.  It is important to follow the online process and submit the appropriate fax coversheet for each document being submitted.

If submitting supplemental documentation as instructed above poses a hardship please contact us by noon Eastern Time on the announcement's closing date to make other arrangements.

Step 6 - Final Review and Submission

Once you have finished submitting your required supplemental documentation, click "Next." You will see a summary of your application for your review as well as a listing of the supplemental documentation that was successfully submitted. Be sure to print a copy for your records. When you click "Finished" at the bottom of the page, you will then be directed back to USAJOBS, where you can confirm that your application has been submitted and track your application status.
